Mike played HS lacrosse at Smithtown HS West and was a 4year starter for the Blue Knights. He was an alternate on the 1990 Long Island Empire State games team and made the team as a starter for the 1991 Gold Medal winning team. He received All County Honors 2x and made All-American honors after his senior season. Mike was selected as an alternate on U19 USA lacrosse team and was honored as the LT. Raymond Enners Award recipient in 1992. While at Cornell University, he set single season save records his freshman and senior year, was named to the All-Ivy League 1st team (2x) and made All American (3rd team) in 1996. He was a Captain for the Big Red team in 1996 and was selected to the North-South All Star Game. He currently stands #2 on the list for All-time saves (699) in program history. After college Mike played box lacrosse goalie for the NY Saints of the MILL. From 1996 through 2001 he played club lacrosse for Duke-Tobay, where he received All-Club honors 2x. Mike was inducted into the Smithtown Athletics Hall of Fame (2002), the Cornell Athletics Hall of Fame (2014) and in 2020 he was inducted into the Long Island Metro Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Mike is a coach in the Harborfields Youth PAL Program and is the Volunteer Director of the Mooselax Lacrosse Club.

The sport of lacrosse has provided me with many fantastic opportunities in life, and becoming a coach gave me a way to make an impact on young athletes by passing on my love for the game, while providing lessons on the field that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
